Gemsbok Oryx Shoulder Mount

Gemsbok Oryx (Oryx gazella)

South Africa, Late 20th Century

A striking and highly desirable adult male Gemsbok shoulder mount, showcasing one of Africa's most iconic and recognisable antelope species. Expertly prepared and mounted with the head turning elegantly to the right, this impressive specimen captures the natural grace and commanding presence for which the Gemsbok is renowned.

The mount displays the species' distinctive black-and-white facial markings, pale sand-coloured coat and magnificent spear-like horns, which are among the longest and most elegant found within the antelope family. The symmetry and length of the horns create an exceptional visual impact, making this a superb centrepiece for any natural history collection, country house, hunting lodge, luxury interior or commercial display.

Native to the arid regions of Southern Africa, the Gemsbok is celebrated for its resilience and beauty, thriving in some of the continent's harshest environments. This example perfectly reflects the species' noble stature and timeless appeal.

Prepared to a high standard, the mount retains excellent colouration, crisp markings and strong horn condition throughout, offering both decorative appeal and collector interest.
